About Dr. Shannon Tyler

Dr. Tyler is an Army Veteran, single mother, and lover of all creatures. She started her career in veterinary medicine in the Army in 2001 as a veterinary technician. She served her country for 11 years before going to Ross University of Veterinary Medicine to complete her doctorate in 2016.

She is the mother of two wonderful daughters, who both attend school in Tumwater. She is originally from California and Hawaii but has family roots in Spokane.

Throughout Dr. Tyler’s years in the veterinary field, she has learned that her passion is the human-animal bond. Whether it’s at the first puppy/kitten visit, chronic skin problems, or the quality of life exam – she yearns to make the relationship between the owner and their pets the best it can be.

She found that in-home care, where the pet is most comfortable, is the best time to evaluate a pet. Euthanasia is the hardest part of owning a pet, and Dr. Tyler’s mission is to help owners understand and make the decision toward end-of-life care.
